A Father’s Love

This is Father’s Day weekend in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom which, naturally, is the reason for the title of this week’s blog post. We all have a father … that’s a given. Some fathers are still with us and some are not. As we were growing up, some fathers were loving and caring—demonstrating to their children the quintessential role model of the ideal father. For others, our fathers were or may still remain flawed or absent from our lives.fathers-love

Love is the underpinning of life, and a father’s love is certainly an important aspect of the love we all wish to have.

In spite of the fact that my dad was far from perfect, I was a “Daddy’s girl.” As a child, I would follow him around—totally fascinated by anything and everything he was doing. He used to work on cars in his spare time. Since I was right there, he would ask me to hand him this or that.

“Hand me that wrench, Neet!” he would bellow. Looking over the pile of greasy objects, I would pick up what I hoped might be a wrench only to hear, “Not that! Don’t you know what a wrench looks like?”

Pleasing my dad was something I always tried to do, but did not always succeed. However, whether he was happy with me or upset, the one thing I was always sure of was that he loved me. Oh, he never said it much, but I knew it. I think that made me one lucky kid, and for that I am grateful.

My wish for you this Father’s Day weekend, is that you appreciate the love you’ve been given, and give your love freely and fully … to your fathers, mothers, children … to your family and friends … and especially to yourself.

Love and New Beginnings

Today is the last day of the Kindle Scout program for my latest book, The Things We Do For Love. (If you haven’t nominated yet, please do so here.) Writing Luke, Shelly, and Mary Beth’s story was a lot of fun for me. Now it’s time to start a new project. As you know, love and romance are the underlying themes of everything I write – thus the title of this blog.

Love_and_New_BeginningsStarting something new doesn’t necessarily mean the end of something else. However, the two do often coincide. In today’s world, the idea of “multitasking” is a common phenomenon. I always tell myself that I can start the next book before the current novel is published, but …. Okay, I’ve written maybe a thousand or so words for my next book.

The epilogue of The Things We Do For Love begins Gabriella’s story. Naturally, you would think that’s what I’m working on but, no …. Surprise! It’s time to find out where it all began. John and Juliette Adler’s love story will be next. Instead of a sequel, you’ll enjoy the prequel to The Adler Series. You already know how the story ends – John and Juliette marry and have nine children together. You’ve read “The Adler Rules” and know the philosophy the Adler parents used to successfully raise Michael, Phillip, Brooke, Gabriella, Aaron, Olivia, Luke, Whitney, and Connor.

This is the part where John’s page meets Juliette’s … where Juliette finds her Romeo. I can’t tell you exactly where this story will take all of us. But you can be sure John and Juliette Adler’s story will always read LOVE.

*  *  *

Several titles have already been considered for John and Juliette’s story. However, nothing is set in stone. Maybe I should run a contest. What do you think? Anyone interested? Here are three titles I’ve toyed with:

  1. Because You Love Me
  2. My Love, My Valentine
  3. No Ordinary Love

Please let me know if you prefer one title over the others, or if you have another suggestion. Also, if you’d be interested in participating in a book title naming contest, let me know. Might be fun. Please give me your feedback.

Love’s Healing Power

We’ve all heard or read the stories of miraculous healings and medical miracles. I truly believe that the power of LOVE is “the most healing force in the world.” It is my opinion that love is more powerful … greater than it is possible for any human being  to completely understand. Loves_Healing_Power

The healing power of LOVE is one of the main themes in Should I Stay or Should I Go,  the 4th novel in the Adler series. Recently, I’ve been re-reading this story I wrote over a year ago. Naturally, I am very familiar with the premise of the story. The female lead, Gina, enters the story with a terrible secret and is very much in need of healing.

The story line showed me that love is patient. Love is kind – gentle – caring – compassionate, and powerful. Love is capable of healing us – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Sometimes love is the only thing that can heal.

Love is an energy that can have healing effects on all areas of your life. The more love you give, the more love you will receive. Love heals. Love has been scientifically proven to be capable of curing what was thought to be incurable.

You are the vehicle through which loves power can work its miracles. You are love made manifest.  Love can change your life, and it can change the life of someone you give your love to. There’s a reason so many people read romance novels. It’s because they speak the language of LOVE.

Love is in the Air

Can you see it? Can you feel it? Along with the scent of lilacs, have you noticed the special aroma of love that seems to permeate the air today? love_is_in_the_air_by_eadesign_designisfun

Love has no season, but it seems as if when spring is in the air, it’s also the time of year when love more readily abounds … or perhaps I simply notice it a bit more.

The air is buzzing with birds and bees. Birds have built their nests and are working on filling them with eggs. I once had a robin’s nest on my front porch. When the babies finally broke through their shells, both mother and father robin’s love flew through the air as the pair worked tirelessly to bring nourishment back to their precious chicks. Soon, I expect to see the ducklings following their loving mother to join her as she shows them where to find and enjoy the corn and seeds I’ve left outside for my fine feathered (and furry) friends.

When love is in the air, not only does it make you feel better … it makes you want to be better. People seem to be more generous, more considerate, more compassionate when love is in the air.

Doors (both physical and those of opportunity) are opened for you, and you pass the favor along to others.

Friends and family … maybe even those you’ve never met, support you in the achievement of your goals and dreams, and you do the same in return.

Perhaps you find yourself rambling on about something important to you, and notice how patiently a listening ear is there – allowing you to carry on as if your musings were the most significant topic in the world.

When love is in the air, you find that doing something for someone else is a pleasure and a privilege. You call, text, send a note or maybe even flowers just to let that person know you’re thinking about them and how important they are to you.

Let your love fill the air. It will flow from you and come back in unexpected and wonderful ways.

Please Show Some Love

It’s usual for me to write about something related to love and/or relationships for my weekly blog. Today’s post is a little different. I’m actually asking for each of you to show me some love by supporting my Kindle Scout campaign for “The Things We Do for Love”.

The Things We Do_CoverThis is the 6th book in The Adler Series, and tells Luke and Shelly’s love story. You may remember them from earlier Adler novels. Shelly’s teenage daughter, Mary Beth, plays a major role in their road to living “happily ever after.”

Writing this story was a lot of fun for me because making a relationship work with children involved was a personal experience. Of course, I drew on both the mistakes I made as well as the things I did right in my own life.

Since there are quite a few couples in today’s world who deal with dating as a single parent, this book will hit home with many.

Please help me out by going to my Kindle Scout Campaign for “The Things We Do for Love ~ Luke & Shelly” and nominating this book for publication.

Thank you so very, very much for your help and support!

Live ~ Laugh ~ Love

Keeping a journal has been a habit of mine for many years. This year, my journal has “Live ~ Laugh ~ Love” printed on the cover, and those words  became the theme for this week’s post. When looking for an image to accompany my thoughts, I found several that said,

Live every moment. Laugh every day. Love beyond words.”

tumblr_nvszmeDyoU1sged54o1_1280

Great advice! But then I found the image you see in this post and loved it even more. Many philosophers, authors and songwriters advise us to “live in the moment” … “be here now” and “live like you were dying.”

Right NOW, you are the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be again.

I don’t know about you, but that very profound thought had never really hit me before.

As we advance in years, we may become more cautious … do fewer spontaneous things … and generally take life more seriously. However,

Living, Loving, & Laughing

is not reserved for any particular stage in life. Men and women of all ages can find themselves suddenly single. It’s common for those in their 20’s and 30’s to readily go to Match.comeHarmony or some other dating site to find their next special someone – and for a good reason. Having somebody to love and laugh with can make living more fun no matter how old you are. Now there are websites like  EliteSingles, OurTime, and SeniorPeopleMeet that cater to the older crowd.

Live ~ Laugh ~ Love” is a great motto by which to live your life, and it makes no difference if you’re 18 or 108.
