I hope they never find a cure for the Incurable Romantic!
There are lots of diseases and other things in the world and it would be great is a cure could be found for any, many or all of them. But doing anything to try and make a romantic person less romantic certainly isn’t one of them.
Who could possibly object to holding on to hope … in believing in your dreams? We need more decency, love, tenderness and kindness in the world – not less.
My ex-husband used to tell me frequently that I was “too emotional” because I would cry easily. It’s true. I cry when I’m happy. I cry when I’m sad. I cry when I’m hurt, and plenty of other times as well. Yes, I am emotional and I’m compassionate. I feel for others when they are struggling or in pain, and my feelings come through in my emotions. (Gee, I wonder why he’s my ex?)
I loved all the fairy tales from my childhood of Prince Charming riding in on his beautiful white stallion to save the princess. The truth is, I still do. That’s why I read and now write romance novels with the proverbial “Happily Ever After” ending. Obviously, I didn’t have that ending with my ex-for-a-good-reason, but I did find my Prince Charming in the end.
So, to all you Romantics out there – remain incurable. You’re the part of mankind I believe in the most!
